Roll for Luck: Exploring Japan’s Ehomaki Tradition

Have you heard of Ehomaki? It’s a fun Japanese tradition celebrated on Setsubun, around February 3rd. People eat a large sushi roll in silence while facing the year’s lucky direction and making a wish. Originating from Osaka, Ehomaki is filled with seven ingredients meant to bring good luck. Today, you can even find versions with seafood or dessert flavors. They say if you eat it correctly, a lucky year is yours. Would you like to try it?
