Dustmere, the city in the sand, became a hostile place for our heroes. The Disciple, named by an apparition as “Xethir”, sought to break The One Thousand Seals to achieve an unknown goal. As a servant of Xethir, Duke Gaspar was attempting to create a graven god by planting an illusory seed of faith in the people of Dustmere and letting it bloom.
The many threads of the plot converged at the Masqerade, were Gaspar used a huge coilstone to catalyse the transformation. He turned duke Debiles into a horrific imitation of a Graven and sent for Xethir to execute his plans.
But before Xethir could arrive and kill the graven himself, our heroes emerged from the crowd, and once again they slew it. The Disciple, Xethir punished Gaspar for his failures, and promised them, “the seals will fall. The towers will once again light the way for the worthy. And you shall not live to see it.”
With the Glass Desert and the city of Dustmere behind them, our heroes chased friends and rumour to a new city. Finding Florin at the Port with his tall, rickety merchant boat, they set sail and mended the vessel on the move, newly christening it the “Baery”.
Under the stars they drank from stolen barrels of rum, shared regrets of the past, worries of the future, and on the last evening of their voyage, Florin shared a tale passed down through his people.
They arrived in the stifling heat of the afternoon to a city built into a vast opening in a cliff. Mist rolled from the city maw and wicked from tall structures of galleon aftcastles, masts, sails, ropes and brick, all stacked up the inner-wall of the crevasse. Further within the shadow of the cliff wall the city proper sprawled: a vast cobbled square hemmed by a maze of markets and a tangle of narrow cobbled streets and black-tiled tenement houses, inns and shops. Rising a hundred feet above it all was a cliff plateau, and atop it were grand spires and gleaming walls of cream stone.
Florin leaned on the taffrail with our heroes as they peered ahead, “the Southernmost coastal hub of Hazarli… the one and only Empire city where pirates of the Zarxotic Isles can parlay. Welcome to Delnori.”
