Would a powerful God want a relationship with us?  God alone is wealthy and rich beyond measure.  All belongs to Him and no one can give Him a gift as if we owe Him anything.  God's judgments are unsearchable.  No one is His counselor and no one can teach Him anything.  So, why would a God so great want to have anything to do with someone small like us?
