Is it wrong to impose Biblical Law on non-Christians?

What did the Frenchman, Alexis de Tocqueville, write in 1835 in Democracy In America?

What about John Clark Ridpath, who wrote in 1874, History of the United States?

What did William Holmes McGuffey, who wrote the McGuffey Readers, teach virtually every elementary school child in America from the 1830’s to the 1920’s in describing America’s early government?
