The term “Stay Woke” has taken on political connotations in the last 5 years or so. It has become associated with progressive or left-leaning politics. But as it relates to our faith journeys, to stay awake or to stay woke is to stay alert as we await the return of Christ. It challenges us to consider our life in light of Christ’s return. How are we living? Are we still asleep in darkness or have we awakened to the light of Christ? This Sunday I invite you to consider a new meaning of the term “Stay Woke” as we discern together how to live as we await Christ’s return in light of Romans 13:11-14.
