The Jews who prided themselves that they were God's covenant people carried with them the mark or sign of circumcision. This was the evidence that they were the offspirng of Abrham, The Father of Faith (Rom. 4:16) But circumcions did not profit if they did not keep the law. Born again believers have the seal of the Holy Spirit who points to Christ and the truth of the Word of God. But the Word of God does not profit if it is not mixed with faith (Heb. 4:2). The Holy Spirit does not profit if we don't walk in the Spirit (Gal. 5:16; Rom. 8:4-5) or are filled with the Spirit (Eph. 5:18)
