Key passage: Romans 8:1-4

Romans 8:1 has been called “The most hopeful verse in scripture:”

  • No Condemnation!
    • Hopeful and specific
      • “For those in Christ Jesus”

        • Why? We’ve been justified.

        • Romans 8:2
        • Justification – God’s act of removing the guilt and penalty of sin while at the same time declaring a sinner righteous.

          • How? By the father’s gift of the son.

          • Romans 8:3
          • Substitutionary Atonement – Jesus died in my place, as my substitute, so that I could have life with God.

            • Outcome and Calling: Righteousness!

            • Romans 8:4
            • Outcome: Righteousness
            • Calling: to live righteously
            • Hebrews 10:14
              • Made perfect forever… (NLV)
