* These verses talk about “sonship.”

* One of the core human needs is identity - who am I?

* Just off of this is the need for belonging - who wants me?

* These verses show us we are now God’s kids and He wants us.

* If we’re God’s kids then we have God’s stuff.

* We have power and authority over Satan, sin, and death.

* Now on the foundation of this new identity, we must act like it.

* Satan can’t beat a man who knows who he is.

* vs 17b - if we suffer with Him we’ll be glorified with Him.

* Suffering is a part of God’s plan.

* We can suffer because of persecution or sickness, etc.

* We can also suffer by fighting against temptation.

* When you fight against it you refuse to yield to it, and that causes suffering.

* If you suffer like this you prove God is your Dad!

* Galatians 4:6 - your identity has changed!!
