Romans 9-11 | The Wonder Of God’s Salvation

The gospel on the GROUND is the personal redemptive implication of the gospel. Through this lens we come to understand the means of salvation – the gospel power. Gospel on the ground points to REGENERATION – JUSTIFICATION – SANCTIFICATION – GLORIFICATION in the life of the believer in Christ.

The gospel in the AIR is the historical redemptive implication of the gospel. It is the story line of Scripture. Through this lens we come to understand the reason for salvation — the gospel purpose. Gospel in the air tells the story of God in CREATION – FALL – REDEMPTION – RESTORATION

Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

God is at the center of the gospel word. Yet much of evangelism tends to place people in that position. The gospel becomes skewed toward me and how Jesus meets my needs. But the gospel Jesus proclaimed is about God exercising his life-giving rule through his Messiah for his Glory

Romans 8:31–33 (ESV)

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

These are images of the effort of man to strive for righteousness. To go up to heaven or, perhaps, by some penance, descend is to reject the reality of the gospel. Jesus is the one who has come down from heaven. And Jesus is the one who has triumphed over death. Righteousness is the result of God’s work, not ours.
