An Overview of Romans Chapters 9–11 After eight chapters detailing the universal problem of sin and the glorious, individual salvation found by faith in Jesus Christ, the Apostle Paul makes a significant shift in his discourse. Romans chapters 9, 10, and 11 form a distinct section addressing the national destiny of Israel in light of God's work in the Church. A failure to recognize this change in subject, from the individual to the nation, has led to much confusion and false doctrine. These three chapters answer the critical question: Has God's Word to Israel failed? The central theme is God's unwavering faithfulness to His promises. This section of scripture is written to explain what God is doing, why He is doing it, and what He will do in the future concerning the nation of Israel, the Gentiles, and His Church.
