Room Tone

Welcome to Room Tone — an intimate conversation series from Hailes that explores the lives, careers, and stories of the artists who make the music. For Episode 01, Hailes sits down with Kansas City singer, songwriter, and vocal producer Charmelle Cofield. With more than 20 years in music and writing credits for artists including Beyoncé, Usher, Mary J. Blige, Tyrese, Kelly Rowland, and Tweet, Charmelle has spent much of her career helping shape the voices and records we know. But what happens when achieving the things you thought would make you feel successful still doesn’t make you feel whole? Charmelle opens up about writing for some of music’s biggest artists, the illusion of success, motherhood, her own journey as an artist, and what it means to step out from behind the scenes and reclaim this chapter of her life. ROOM TONE is an extension of LIVING ROOM by Hailes, a live music residency in Kansas City produced in collaboration with NOMADA at In The Lowest Ferns, created to bring artists and audiences closer together through intimate performance, conversation, and community. The next LIVING ROOM takes place October 22, 2026 at In The Lowest Ferns in Kansas City.TICKETS for Session 03: [https://dice.fm/event/xegqbk-living-room-by-hailes-1022-live-at-itlf-ft-charmelle-zeph-france-22nd-oct-in-the-lowest-ferns-by-nomada-kansas-city-tickets]
