On this episode of MFP Live, Donna Ladd and Kimberly Griffin speak to Dr. Roscoe Barnes III.
Dr. Roscoe Barnes III is the Cultural Heritage Tourism Manager for Visit Natchez, a tourism marketing organization. They discussed his extensive research on Mississippi-born civil rights activist and author Anne Moody. They also talked about the rich history of Natchez and the ways he has helped to bring its often-hidden Black history to prominence.
Dr. Barnes is an Indianola, Miss., native and has been a church minister since he was 17. He earned his PhD in Church History and Polity from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. He has also earned a Master of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pa., and a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies from East Coast Bible College in Charlotte, N.C. Dr. Barnes is an award-winning journalist writing for many publications in Mississippi and Pennsylvania.
