This week we are taking a deep dive into the history and deciphering of the Rosetta Stone! We start off in Ancient Egypt and follow Pharoah Ptolemy V and his rise to the throne, along with the Memphis Decree written in his name. Then we jump ahead in time to 1799 and Napoleon's quest through Egypt and the finding of this massive stellae. We continue on with the names and attempts to study and decipher ancient hieroglyphs. Finally, we wrap the journey up with how the stone came to the British Museum and works on its conservation. This is long episode, so strap yourselves in!
