The Bible is filled with accounts of the triumphs of underdogs. We all love stories like these. There is something within us that loves to see God’s hand balance the scales and bring about improbable breakthroughs to those who were the least likely to experience them. Perhaps no hero in the Old Testament had a rougher beginning to his personal story than Joseph. Abuse, jealousy, abandonment and betrayal followed him all of his days up until age 30 when God reversed the trajectory of Joseph's life. In this closing scene, we witness the once young man now exiting earth as a very powerful, successful, and faith-filled grandfather. No matter how our journeys may have begun, because of the power of the Gospel, we can be assured that there is always opportunity for a finish far better than we started. Joseph shows us what the final chapters can look like for those who trust God in faith until the very end.
