In today’s episode, we meet Roy Hobson, an entrepreneur with a challenge for the world.

Roy’s journey is one of many changes. From a small town in Eastern Cape to the big city of Joburg, back to the small town and then off to Germany.

Roy has worked in corporate IT, been the CIO of a school and is a dreamer, artist and fan of the world.

During our entertaining discussion, Roy quotes Dante, introduces us to the term “Solar Punk” and forces moments of introspection about the world which could be, rather than the world as it is.

“Perhaps we need to rewrite the story where the Economy is not the leader…” Says Roy and leans on “Donut Economics” by Kate Raworth as an alternative to what we have learnt to live with.

When I asked if the world of work is ready for these discussions Roy is quick to point out that business is made up of people and the more we challenge the conversations the quicker change can happen.
