Royals Color Commentator Rex Hudler dodged a lot of social media “arrows” when he first came to Kansas City from Orange County, California in 2012. Now, he’s made an impact on not just Royals players and staff, but also within his community. Rex and his wife’s Team Up for Down Syndrome (or Up Syndrome as the Hudler family calls it) empowers people with special needs. The Royals support his cause with Special Day at the K, which is on September 30th this year. And his “Bug Eater” nickname didn’t just come out of nowhere…Rex goes back to the early 90’s when he played for the Cardinals and his first time experiencing those giant ‘bird-like’ Midwest bugs.
