Just letting you know what we’re gonna be doing, every Sunday I hope to meet you on a hillside in the beautiful city of Colosse comma as we delve into the letter to the Colossian church.

This week we are back and taking on a doozy.

Taking time to look at the three times Jesus predicts His death to the disciples and how they react each time.

Ice breaker: have you ever put a puzzle together or a Lego set or something like that and have been missing the final or near final pieces? What did you do?

The unaccountable stupidity of the disciples, with reference to this prediction of Christ suffering. It was said in Mark, they understood not that same. It was plain enough, but they would not understand it in the literal sense, because it agreed not with their notions; and they could not understand it in any other, and we’re afraid to ask him less they should be undeceived and awakened out of their pleasing dream.

Mission Impossible (Mark 10:23-31)

—Ice Breaker: What was the jingle your remember from being a kid that’s stuck with you during your lifetime?—

I did remember the “don’t squeeze the charmin” and “but your soaking in it” that was pomolive soap or whatever…

This week we are looking at what it takes to get into heaven. Jesus using the illustration of a camel through the eye of a needle. We all have heard it but what does it really mean?

It means, of myself I’m doomed, but with God anything is possible!

Big Idea: Following Jesus has specific results.

“You contribute nothing to your salvation except the sin that made it necessary”

Does your life reflect that you have accepted Christ? Does your life reflect that you are in the hand of the Father? Does your life reflect that you are adopted into the family of Christ? That eternal life is your hope?

The Law, A Question, The One Thing

Mark 10:17-22

Ice Breaker: What is the one thing you would change and do over again if you were given the opportunity?

This week we look at Jesus and the Rich, Young Ruler… a man of high status and wealth kneels before Jesus and asks Him, what can I do to acquire the eternal inheritance.

Big Idea: To follow Jesus you only have to change one thing… Everything.

1. ​ The Law reveals sin

1. ​ Deny yourself and follow Jesus

Application: The one thing you’d change.

Why would you change the one thing? Ask yourself what has come from it? Has it been good? Has it been bad? How has it been used to glorify God?

Children, Blessing and Rebuking

Ice Breaker: How were you disciplined versus how you discipline your own children? Same or different.

Big Idea: it’s CHILD-LIKE faith not CHILDISH faith

-With all of these that we grow into maturity

Application: Take an inventory of your spiritual maturity. Do you throw temper tantrums? Do you shut down or shut off? Do you seek revenge or seek to punish?

Or… do you seek the Lord and what God has directed you to do? Do you respond in Christ or react from sin?

Mark 9:42-50

This week has taken quite a bit of time to get recorded. If I’m honest I couldn’t get it dialed in until today, working through these verses has been a wrestling match for me. This had to wait until the right time as well.

In this episode we are working through Jesus teaching on Hell, more specifically it’s better to maimed and enter heaven than hell as a complete sinful being.

A tough topic with some tough points.

I pray that this is a blessing to you and may bring some time of thought and contemplation.

Big Idea: The Gospel - Offensive to Save

The Word, His Will and Mercies…

Icebreaker: What is a time that you found yourself or felt that you were separated from those around you? (Comment below)

We are back and a bit off the Mark series for a moment… during a class at church on a Sunday I taught on Romans 12:1-2, and man it just hit deep. I had read it the night before and just felt this need to make sure my students understood what this was about… so here is the updated white board topic for you.

Looking at the scripture today you are going to see how God has provided His mercies to give us the ability to prove His will. As we go through this we will use the following verses as well…

2 Tim 2:19; Romans 7:15; Isaiah 41:10; John 15:19; Titus 2:11-14; 2 Cor 5:17

Big Idea: To know Jesus, is to know the word

It’s in the word of God that will know the heart of God, you will know how to deal with a sinful world. It is what is to come in heaven that matters to Christian’s.

Colossians 3:1-2; John 1:1-3; 1 Cor 1:18

Application: How often are you praying? How often are you repenting? How often are you submitting? Most importantly, how often are you reading the word, not just reading… but in the Bible, studying and applying the word?
