The Resurrection – Revision Notes

(What happened on Easter Sunday)

  1. The story begins early in the morning:
On the third day after Jesus died, Mary Magdalene and some other women went to the tomb.
They brought spices to anoint Jesus’ body as part of the burial tradition.
  2. The tomb is empty:
When they arrived, they saw the stone rolled away, and the tomb was empty — Jesus’ body was gone!
  3. An angel tells the good news:
An angel appeared and told them,
“He is not here. He has risen!”
This means Jesus had come back to life — just as He had promised.
  4. Jesus appears to the women:
Jesus met the women and spoke to them.
He told them not to be afraid and to tell the disciples that He was alive.
  5. Jesus is alive – resurrection:
Christians believe this moment shows that Jesus has power over death and brings hope of new life for everyone.
  6. Jesus appears to His disciples:
Jesus later appeared to His friends — the disciples — and showed them His hands and feet, which still had the marks from the crucifixion.
  7. The disciples were amazed:
At first, they couldn’t believe it. But Jesus ate with them and let them touch Him, showing He was really alive.
  8. Message of Easter:
Jesus’ resurrection means that death is not the end.
Christians believe it proves that Jesus is the Son of God and brings eternal life.
  9. Telling others:
The women and the disciples told everyone what they had seen.
This is how the Christian message began to spread across the world.
  10. Why Easter matters:
Easter is the most important day in the Christian calendar.
It’s a time to celebrate life, hope, and the victory of good over evil.
