We currently may be seeing some growing pains within the American College Rugby landscape. The Iowa Central Community College Tritons might be another flashpoint. ICCC is a Junior College of 1200 students that has had a Rugby team for about 2 years. A week ago they defeated some of the bigger names to win a CRC qualifier and by many accounts SHOULD have qualified for the Collegiate Rugby Championship, but may miss out due to technicalities. Those technicalities might be linked to money, TV ratings, sponsors, and not the actual game of Rugby.
