Our last episode of August is a review from rap group RUN-D.M.C. and their self-titled debut album.RUN-D.M.C. changed the landscape of hip-hop and single-handedly saved the genre in 1984 with the first gold hip-hop album ever. Their hard rhymes paired with equally hard drum machine beats, and Jam Master Jay cutting and scratching was a vast difference from the disco funk rap records that had come before them.As well as the street attire they wore, like leather jackets and fedoras, many considered the group as the first true “new school” of hip-hop making them one of the most influential groups of all time.
