Podcast Series: Run the Race - Meditations for Movement
Course Instructor: The Rev. Kristen Ostendorf
In This Episode:
This visioning exercise follows the advice Paul gives his followers in 1 Thessalonians 5: 17-18: to pray without ceasing.
Following this pre-movement meditation, a walker, hiker, or runner will write a prayer that follows a traditional format of Christian prayer - called a collect. This collect can speak to the concerns in your heart, no matter what they are. This exercise will help you create a "prayer for your pocket" that you can take on your hike, run or walk, whether it be a prayer of gratitude, joy, lament, or other concerns.
For more examples of collects, see https://www.bcponline.org/, p. 810 for a variety of prayers that can be used on various occasions.
