Joe Foster, co-founder of Reebok, joins us on this episode of the Making Bank Podcast! Joe tells us the incredible story of starting the company with his brother, Jeff, in the 1950s to making Reebok the number one shoe company in America.   

When Joe was a young adult, Joe and Jeff joined the National Service in the 1950s, with Jeff going to Germany. While in Germany, Jeff witnessed the advanced manufacturing of companies like Puma and Adidas. By the time both brothers came back home, they wanted to take over the family’s shoe business and grow it. However, their father didn’t want to give up the then failing business. So, they started their own. 

Joe tells us how he started targeting the US market, Adidas claimed the European one. After 11 years and several failures, by the 1970s, Joe was able to get Reebok seen, creating three 5-star shoes rated in Runner’s World. It was then that he paired up with Paul Fireman, expanded into women’s shoes, and in 5 consecutive years, went from a $9 million to a $900 million one. Listen to the episode to hear the full story. Through his challenges and triumphs, Joe offers many morsels of advice along the way.
