A reading of various newspaper notices regarding the jailing of Black men, women and children across the United States. Both free and enslaved people were brought to jailers and accused of being a ‘runaway.’ The law required such newspaper notices be placed repeatedly for a specific period of time before the human beings could be sold to other enslavers at auction.
