How do you run a marathon?  How do you become a millionaire?  Believe it or not, It’s the same process.  Start small.  Making small investments in your fitness and your savings account is the best way to start.  Consistently, day after day, week after week, paycheck after paycheck.  These small incremental habits will not appear to make much difference at first.  But that is the beauty of compound interest.  What happens over time is those small investments both physical and financial begin to pay dividends.  And those results become exponential.  Both with running and with investing you get more than what you put in.  A lot more.  And the earlier you start the greater your return.  At least for the vast majority of us. 

The concept of starting early served Raj Anapuzha well when it came to his financial success, but his running success came actually the exact opposite.  Raj jumped into investment banking right out of university and followed his own advice of taking a small amount from each paycheck and saving it for investing.  But his running journey didn’t begin until his late 40’s, tackling his first marathon after 50.  Now an avid runner blessed with good genetics and an incredible work ethic, Raj has seen his times drop to staggering levels.  Having qualified for the Boston Marathon for the past 3 years, it is obvious that Raj has the same gift for running that he does for investing in the markets.
