Running for Cade

Listen Later

Running for Cade is an annual 5K race that happens every May in Houma, LA. The race is more than just a reason to show off how fast your 5K time is compared to your friends, it's an enormous charity event dedicated to raising awareness and funding for research for Prader-Willi syndrome, a rare genetic condition in which the body cannot tell when the stomach is full.

In this very special episode Kyle and Caroline chat with the event's organizer, and the mother of Cade, Maegan Richard. Together they discuss what Prader-Willi symdrome is, the day-to-day challenges of raising a child with Prader-Willi (and raising two other kids at the same time!), how the event has brought the community of Houma closer together, and the bright future of Prader-Willi research. We even get to chat with Cade, the boy himself, about his favorite superheros!
