Catch Pratyasha On Countryside in conversation with Dr. Dori Tunstall. She is the Dean, Faculty of Design at Ontario College of Arts and Design University, Toronto. She has been an associate professor in design anthropology At Swinburne University and the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has worked with Kutch artisans through Kala Raksha in India. Arts and Crafts has been a part and parcel of Rural India since time immemorial. The same is dying as it is not adding value to the livelihoods of the rural population. The podcast talks about how Arts and Crafts can boost up the rural economy and be a potential alternative livelihood option. It also features how the advancements in globalization and Technology benefit rural craft communities, citing examples from the western World. The industry can easily empower women as well as the upcoming generations, retaining their traditions.
