As we begin a new series, studying the Book of Ruth, we are reminded that we are not the first people to be overwhelmed by massive societal struggles and difficulties.  The temptations and spiritual battles faced by these ancient Israelites are really not all that different from those faced by our souls today.  This short, Old Testament book will serve as a wonderful encouragement to the complexities of life we are encountering now because it provides hope in the sovereign Providence of God.  Ruth will direct us to Jesus and his Gospel, which is our only hope in life and death.
