Part 1/2. This episode looks at the life and work of Ruth First, a journalist and anti-apartheid activist in South Africa. With her husband, Joe Slovo, she worked with the likes of Govan Mbeki and Nelson Mandel to oppose white minority rule and the apartheid laws passed in 1948.
