In each season of The People’s Commentary, a different group of people will provide commentary on one book from the bible through the lens of their relevant lived experiences. The first season will be looking at The Book of Ruth through the lens of an indigenous asylum-seeker living in Sanctuary in Virginia and a formerly-undocumented, philippinx immigration activist.

The People’s Commentary is bringing biblical commentary back to the people, for the sake of our common life. In each season, a different group of people will provide commentary on one book from the bible through the lens of their relevant lived experiences. We know there is a group of young progressives trying to figure out a way to have faith that doesn't necessarily look like the faith of their parents, and we are making space for regular people — especially marginalized groups and unheard voices — to engage with the history of the church and view the scripture in a way that is relevant to their own lives, without needing to go to seminary to contribute.
