Ryan Folmar is in his fifth season as head coach of the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles and his 14th as a member of the ORU coaching staff. A former catcher at Oklahoma State who helped guide the Cowboys to the College World Series in 1996, Folmar played two seasons in the Colorado Rockies’ farm system before returning to Stillwater and spending five seasons as the program’s director of baseball operations.

This season Oral Roberts jumped out to a 28-11 record and a 16-2 mark in the Summit League. Folmar entered the current campaign with a career record of 134-95 (.585). He collected the 100th win of his career against Little Rock March 4, 2016, notching a 14-5 win over the Trojans to become the sixth coach in program history to reach the milestone. He closed the season with his second straight Summit League Coach of the Year honor after earning the first of his career in 2015.

In 2016, the Golden Eagles claimed their 16th straight Summit League regular season conference championship and 17th consecutive conference tournament title leading to their 26th appearance in the NCAA Regionals behind a 38-21 record. ORU finished the regular season with a 4-1 record against teams from the Big 12 with wins over Oklahoma, Kansas State and a home-and-home sweep of Oklahoma State, and added road wins over SEC members Auburn and Mississippi State.

The 2015 season served as a defining year for Folmar, leading the Golden Eagles to their first postseason appearance in three seasons finishing with a 41-16 record overall while dominating The Summit League with a 25-5 record. Challenged with one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the nation, with 15 games against teams with an RPI in the top 100, ORU did not falter. The Golden Eagles fared especially well against the Big 12, finishing the year 5-1 against the power conference after defeating Oklahoma, No. 12 Texas Tech and No. 10 Oklahoma State on the road, and downing the Cowboys and Red Raiders at J.L. Johnson Stadium.
