On today’s episode; I’m interviewing Ryan Odom. Head Coach of the UMBC Men’s Basketball program. The program every sports fan will remember as the first 16 seed to win their matchup over a 1 seed in an NCAA tournament. Ryan then earned the 2018 Hugh Durham Award, an award given to the nation’s top Mid-Major coach. Coach Odom has truly reinvigorated the basketball program at UMBC and he graciously illustrates just how he did that.  In this discussion we dive into- How having a father who also coached in college shaped him, how they laid the groundwork in establishing a winning culture, empowering his players to teach one another, the importance of adapting his methods and the joys and challenges that came from their big upset win.
