A local multiple sport athlete was growing up on a mission that some youth and teenagers can't imagine. This young lady from Omaha North High School, Dariauna Lewis, takes us from being a track star and volleyball player to becoming a next-level basketball player with the help of coaches looking to get out of Omaha and leave her mark at all the steps along the way. The journey is far from over as she takes her lessons from college at Missouri State, Alabama A&M, and Syracuse University to prepare her for possible play beyond her college days. Even though she wasn't selected in the 2023 WNBA Draft as hoped, she will begin to play in Puerto Rico, but before she goes will learn Spanish to make the transition a little easier on and off the court. Syracuse.com labeled her a female version of Dennis Rodman, a big name to live up to but no worries, her numbers and play do the talking.
