Alanna begins her first adventure in the deserts of southern Tortell - it has two things Alanna loves - its distance from Jon and it is warm. She quickly falls in with a Bazzhir tribe known as the Bloody Hawk - Through many trials Alanna becomes a member of the tribe, becomes Shaman of the tribe and tries desperately to get the tribe to treat women the way they treat their men.
