S02 E13 - Silence & Solitude (Lab)
Mary Liz Overcash and Clay Dominy join Ryan to discuss the practice of silence & solitude and reflect on their personal experiences. What does this practice look like in practice? What are the barriers we might face? How can S&S help us grow to become more like Jesus?
A Guide to Solitude & Silence:
1. Find a quiet place (solitude)
2. Remove distractions – external & internal (silence)
3. Take your time (not in a rush)
4. Slow down (deep breaths, “here I am, Lord”)
5. Release yourself from the pressure of making something happen
(just “be” with God)
6. Face the good, the bad, and the ugly in your heart
(the apple pieces lodged in your soul)
7. Say to God whatever comes to your heart
(but listen to yourself and to God more than you speak)
8. Sense his voice cutting thru the other voices, speaking his love over you
(reminding you what is true)
