Mitzi Uy-Chan has long dreamed of creating a business that's sustainable not only for her but also to the people around her. She created Mori Notes, a social enterprise that supports stay-at-home moms in a barangay in Quezon City.
Each Mori Notes item is lovingly handcrafted by the "Mori Moms" of Apolonio Samson, Quezon City. These mothers prefer to work at home to tend to their children's needs. Before working with Mori Notes, many of these women were either unemployed or laid off at work. Some were sewing rags that allowed them to earn only Php100 ($2) a day. Today, through Mori Notes, they are earning up to Php500 ($10) a day.
Mori Notes envisions making Quezon City poverty free by becoming a global brand of innovative purses.
