NPR Challenge: Word on the Street (Zainab)
(This Podcast was submitted as an entry in the 2024 NPR Student Podcast Challenge 5th-8th Grade Competition)
In this podcast, Zainab asks the question, how do different generations react to slang words. Zainab interviews a series of adults with slang terms that teens use. She asks the adults what they think a word means. After their responses, she reveals the meaning. Maybe they will come to an understanding of why teens need to have a generational “hidden language”, well at least they’ll have fun along the way. This was inspired by an article about James Calahan in his glossary of slang terms with students.
This podcast was recorded in Herricks Studios with Michael Heit in the Content Creation Foundations 8th Grade Elective.
