An aspiring ventriloquist, Billy, seeks out his childhood idol, Mr. Ingles, who retired from the stage years ago after his assistant was killed in a mysterious fire. Now living as a recluse, Mr. Ingles reluctantly agrees to watch Billy perform. But after the show, Mr. Ingles is spotted fleeing from a car with a dead woman inside. Billy confronts his idol and uncovers the dark secret behind the old ventriloquist and his dummy.
