From the series “The Story of the Bible,” Ryan focuses on the third stage of the story: the covenant community of Israel. Why would God choose a particular people if his desire was to lead the whole world back to him? The Old Testament often seems like a pause in the story between corruption and Christ, but God’s relationship with Israel is actually a development of the story. Israel is God’s “proof of concept” for what he wants to do for the whole world.
