OoopopoiooO was born in 2012 from the close encounter between two bizarre characters: Vincenzo Vasi and Valeria Sturba. Since their birth they have had an intense concert activity in Italy, Europe and the Americas. In 2015 their first album, with the same title, was released under Tremoloa Records, the label of the guitarist and producer Asso Stefana. In March 2019 Elettromagnetismo e Libertà was released.

In addition to the theremin, an instrument of which they are both considered virtuosos and maximum exponents, in their sound playground you can find everything: violin, electric bass, keyboards, minisynths, toys, pieces of cardboard, rubber pigs, percussions, snare drums, suggestive voices, persuasive voices, terrifying voices. The instruments of all kinds distributed in two almost specular sets, the extensive use of loop stations and “played” electronic music bring the acoustic mass of this unusual duo to the levels of a small orchestra, capable of hosting all their parallel worlds in a sort of floating multiverse, which straddles pop and sound experimentation, often crossing “distant” artistic universes.

In fact, their collaborations find space in the world of writing (Ermanno Cavazzoni, Stefano Benni), visual art (Cosimo Miorelli, Luigi Minguzzi, Massimo Ottoni, Frame by Frame Animation Studio), the soundtrack of silent films (in 2014 and 2018 they won the Rimusicazioni Festival), the independent and experimental music scene (Enrico Gabrielli and Calibro 35, Surgical Beat Bros, Luke Fishback – Lucky Dragons, Martin Benavides, Edoardo Marraffa, Sebastiano De Gennaro, Filippo Monico…)

OoopopoiooO is a transversal project, not classifiable in any genre; their bizarre name, with the big O's on the sides, has appeared on the posters of the most disparate festivals: Young Jazz for Umbria Jazz, ROBOt Festival, Isole che Parlano, Verucchio Festival, B-classic (Tongeren, Belgium), Electromagnetica Theremin Fest (Santiago de Cile), Flussi, Dancity, Hai Paura del Buio?…

Every concert of OoopopoiooO is an experience of sounds and visions, in which it is easy to get lost in dreamlike atmospheres and let yourself be lulled by impalpable sounds, but also to be transported by the rhythm and lightness of the songs.
