Welcome back to An Abiding Life Podcast with your hosts, Hunter + Kait Poppa! In this episode, we take a look at an ancient text written by the Apostles of Jesus—the Didache! For the very first followers of Christ—the earliest “Christians”—they used what was called the Didache, or “teaching” in Koine Greek, to raise up new believers in the Church.
This was a tool that not only reflects the Truth of the Gospel, but it actually pre-dates or is contemporaneous with the writings of the New Testament! For the first 600+ years of the Church, it held a place in many canons of Scripture alongside the epistles and Gospel accounts we are familiar with today.
This “Teaching of the Twelve to the Nations” is rich with practical application that we can practice today as believers committed to living out the love of Jesus as His hands and feet.

Here are a few reflection questions to keep in mind as you listen through this episode:
1. In your mind, what makes a good discipleship or spiritual formation tool?
2. How did Jesus make disciples? How should that influence the way in which we disciple and are discipled?
3. What role does holiness play in our life as disciples and disciple-makers?
