Here’s the truth: Multitasking is NOT the answer to getting everything done that’s currently on your plate. I recently had a conversation with a client who was telling me that she tries really hard to multitask but she finds that she’s just not getting ANYTHING done. And in that moment, I could hear the defeat in her voice – it very much felt to me like she was beating herself up because multitasking wasn’t working for her. When in reality, from a neuroscience standpoint – multitasking is incredibly ineffective because we were never meant to be multitaskers. Our brains are meant to FOCUS.
