Thank You For Your Time.

S1 E15 - Seth, The Third Culture Kid

Listen Later

This week we scratch the surface of misconceptions about Africa, with co-host Seth as our resident third culture kid (we define it in the show, don’t worry).
Seth, having spent a majority of his childhood in Kenya, shares some perspectives, answers commonly thought but not asked questions, and busts some myths about Kenya. Bri asks questions regarding the white savior complex, cringey things people ask when Seth said he grew up in Kenya, and the dynamics of being a TCK, MK, and adoptee.
This is one of those episodes where you’ll laugh with us, but also learn and feel challenged right along with us. As Bri mentions in the episode, when you know better you do better. And until you know better you can’t do better. There’s always room for learning and growing. We recognize that the topics discussed are extremely complex and go much deeper than we discussed in this episode. We are no experts here, but simply strive to engage in conversation around seemingly “hard” topics.
We hope you enjoyed this conversation and that it sparks more conversation in your own life.
