We live in little worlds. Predictable worlds. What you see is what you get, 8-ball in the corner pocket if you just hit it right, rack ‘em up and do it again. Just matter and motion, angles and energy. Mechanical cause and effect, nothing to see here, folks. 

But some of us are discovering that in some times and places, usually at the borders and on the margins, a strange underworld peeks through, challenging our settled notions of a sterile, explored, mechanistic world. Lights in the forest, lights in the sky. Voices in the dark, a knock at the door, shapes in the trees.
