Midsummer (aka:Summer Solstice, Litha and St. John’s Day)
Litha is celebrated on the first day of summer, June 20th - 22nd. This holiday is one of the eight Sabbats and is pagan in origin. This is the longest day of the year where it seemed the sun would stand still. From the Latin word solstitium stems the word Solstice and is where the name of the celebration came from. Solstice literally means “the sun stands still”.
