We’re interrupting normal scheduling on Culturally Speaking this week in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic to bring you a special episode. As the world around us is changing to adapt to the circumstances we find ourselves in, it feels topical to talk about greetings that don’t involve physical contact (a clue it involves a reference to a Brad Pitt film and tongues). Many of us will be practising social isolation but did you know that some cultures have been practising postpartum confinement traditions for centuries? In all seriousness we recognise that this podcast isn’t going to save lives (washing your hands might just though) but we hope it brings you a little light in a difficult situation and more importantly you stay safe in the coming weeks and months.
