In Chapter Six, the ladies learn that the consequence of pursuing one's spice is that a spicy new life can test even the strongest bonds of friendship.  And while Carolyn struggles to accept Fanny's and Theodora's zesty new realities, the spice path that she herself is walking seems to fork in two.
