In this episode, I have a heart to heart with with Cheryl Girard, an incredible artist, writer, textile designer, and all-around creative badass. We talk about her journey of self-expression and body image in a multimedia art show called Flesh and Soul where she explores the tangled web between body image and self-worth through photography, painting, and spoken word poetry.
We dive into the emotional complexities of body image and how it influenced her artwork and writing, the importance of allowing oneself to feel and express rage, as well as the societal pressure for women to suppress this emotion.
She shares her exploration of body shame and self-love as she wades through the river of emotions around the compulsive eating and excess weight that has plagued her throughout her life.
