Ben was obsessed with scuba diving, especially highly dangerous underwater cave diving despite not being qualified to do so. While taking a 'life gap year' following some personal crises Ben finds something beyond a passion for the hobby and starts to become fixated on mapping cave systems deeper and deeper below. When he doesn't come up one day it is assumed he has gone too far and drowned, but after extensive search efforts his body cannot be found.
