Listen Later

After 25 years as a forklift operator and a retired US Veteran, Mike, at 55 years old, had an opportunity to transition to a different stage of life and spend more time with his family. He chose to pursue and grow into more challenging voice acting opportunities, a field that he was always passionate about. However, his life took an unexpected turn when he was diagnosed with stage 2 esophageal adenocarcinoma (esophageal cancer) in early 2022, at the age of 57.

Facing such a diagnosis involves navigating tough decisions and adapting to a new plan. Throughout his journey, Mike's story embodies the power of endurance, balance, gratitude, and the human spirit.

Mike has always loved radio, which led to his pursuit of voice acting. His voice-over business can be found at miketarnow.com, where he shares his talent as a voice actor. While most of his work has been in radio imaging and commercials, he has recorded e-learning modules and on-hold messages for a variety of companies. His voice has been heard on the airwaves on 4 continents as well as in Oceania.

Mike co-hosts a podcast called "Stay Off My Lawn," with his good friend Richard Durrington which can be accessed at stayoffmylawn.us or wherever you listen to podcasts. Mike and Richard discuss various topics and the news of the day from a common sense and humorous perspective.
