S1 Ep. 4 Wear a Saree to work day.

Listen Later

In this episode of All1nclusive Tracy and Meenal pay respect to the late Queen's Elizabeth who was a powerful and influential woman, but did you know that she was also a little bit of a feminist?

They share the tragic story of Zahra (Sareh) Haamedani, a lesbian forced to marry and tragically one of the first LGBT women to be sentenced to death in Iran in 2021. Sareh's dream was to see the rainbow flag raised in Iran and her story is a powerful reminder of the struggles that many LGBT people face in countries where they are not accepted. It also begs the question, why now?

Meenal shares her deep desire to wear a Saree to work but explains how she doesn't feel like she could because of how people might react. Should we judge others but what they wear or do we judge a person if at all by their character and ability? What other societal norms might we take for granted? Tracy challenges Meenal to wear a Saree to work and see what happens.

They also give praise to Melissa Roaouf a Miss England contestant who made headlines for being the first to compete without makeup, prompting a broader conversation about beauty standards and societal pressure on women.

Have you ever heard of period poverty? It's becoming a real problem. Tracy and Meenal commend the Scottish Parliament and politicians for making Scotland the first country to legislate the provision of sanitary products for free, allowing women to live with dignity and eliminating period poverty.
